The procedure is similar to that of IVF, except for the moment of insemination.
The oocytes are decumulated, which means that they are freed from all the cells around them and the mature ones are taken to the microscope, where, using a pipette, they are microinjected with a single sperm.
After the procedure, the injected oocytes are placed in an incubator until the next day when they are fertilised (17 – 20 hours). After 24 hours the first division will happen, and so forth until day 3 or day 5 when the embryo will be transferred (after fertilisation the procedure follows the same steps that we specified for IVF).
